Construction Industries of Massachusetts
(CIM) is the voice of construction on Beacon Hill and Capitol Hill and with municipal, state and federal governmental agencies and awarding authorities. CIM works hard to assure increased public funding for the highway, bridge, transit, airport and utility work that are our industry’s mainstay.
-
Members have access to other leaders from major heavy and highway construction firms in New England. Often, through member involvement, new business opportunities are discovered.
-
CIM’s weekly magazine, the Construction Journal, offers members bid invitations for the New England state highway departments, all of Massachusetts’ transportation awarding authorities and several municipalities. Bidders, estimated quantities, bid results and unit price breakdowns from MassHighway are also included. An industry news section reports on legislation, court decisions and regulatory changes from all sectors of the construction industry.
-
Savings through group programs: members have exclusive access to the CICC workers compensation program, a self-insured group that offers significant savings, including dividends, safety training and inspections along with aggressive claims management.
-
Online resources, available only to members, include immediate access to the weekly bid results of
MassHighway, online access to the Massachusetts Construction Contract Law Book, CIM legislation for review and status and links to state and federal transportation agencies, government officials and other industry-related resources.
-
Educational workshops and seminars are held throughout the year to educate member firms on specific topics of interest, changes in laws and other issues that affect the transportation construction industry.
-
CIM hosts various dinner meetings throughout the year, which are informative, educational and entertaining. Many legislative leaders, agency representatives and other notables are invited to speak and participate at these dinners.
-
CIM Massachusetts Construction Contract Law Book, a compilation of state statutes governing public construction in Massachusetts, allows members a quick and easy way to search state and federal laws relevant to public construction in Massachusetts.
-
Members receive a CIM Directory listing all association members, elected officials and state agency contacts.
-
A plan room is maintained at the CIM office and available to members.
-
CIM members can automatically become members of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association
(ARTBA), the only organization in Washington, D.C. that exclusively represents the transportation construction industry. ARTBA seeks to ensure there is adequate federal support for national transportation development programs and that its members can operate their businesses free of unnecessary federal regulation.
